DAD - DigitalArtworkDesigner - (real name: Gernot Steindorfer; 10 December 1965) is a digital artist and graphic designer from Trausdorf an der Wulka near Vienna, Burgenland, Austria. He was born in 1965 and grew up in Feldkirchen in Carinthia, Austria. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning at the Vienna University of Technology in 2001. Gernot Steindorfer lives with his partner and son in Trausdorf an der Wulka.

He began experimenting with digital work processes for image design as early as 1990, the year Adobe's Photoshop was released. However, the performance of the software and hardware at that time was not yet suitable for handling complex digital projects in a reasonable amount of time and in high quality. In 2002, he therefore initially went public with classically painted artworks in acrylic and oil.
 

However, with the development of software and hardware in the following years, it became increasingly easy to integrate digital processes into the creative work in a meaningful way. Today, DAD works with AI-supported image generation and photos to create the basic concepts for his artworks. In his artworks, DAD describes life with humour, sarcasm and unexpected twists. The protagonists of the artworks come from science fiction, fairy tales and the real, often frighteningly banal world. Most of the basic concepts for the artwork were developed years ago. The pool of work in progress is almost unmanageable, but forms a solid basis for completing a large number of very different artworks today.

In addition to his work as a digital artwork designer, DAD is involved in a broad spectrum of graphic design and advertising graphics.
